Tim Ferriss has been on my shortlist of modern thought leaders since reading his seminal The Four Hour Workweek in 2010.

As one of America’s leading business innovators, his podcasts are always worth a listen, and Testing the Impossible: 17 Questions that Changed My Life has some solid takeaways. Listen here.

Three key takeaways I thought were worth sharing:

  1. To get huge, good things done, you need to be okay with letting the small, bad things happen.
    • In Marine leadership training, we teach “decentralized execution,” meaning getting the job done requires giving your team as much authority as possible, accepting that small mistakes will happen.
  2. I always wanted to tighten the conversion fishing net… before driving a ton of traffic to one of my portfolio companies.
    • As Scott Adams says, losers focus on goals, winners focus on process.
  3. No hurry, no pause.
    • It’s a yoga-based variation on a training concept I learned during Marine Marksmanship Training: Slow is Smooth, and Smooth is Fast.
